YES. Absolutely!

When one of my best friends came to visit me in Nepal, she was eager to explore the mountains. However, with her knees not in the best shape, a long trek wasn’t in the cards. So, what did we decide to do? We packed our bags and set off on a short but delightful trek to Kapuche—a hidden gem that turned out to be much more than just a “mini-adventure.”

We flew to Pokhara, hopped into a jeep to Sikles, and wow—Sikles itself is worth the journey. This charming village is filled with character and surrounded by lush green hills. We spent a day there, soaking in the mountain winds and preparing for our trek.

The following day, we began our hike toward Kapuche, and let me tell you this was no mere quick walk. We trekked through misty forests, enjoyed views of towering peaks, and were fortunate enough to spot some of Nepal’s wildlife: red pandas, langur monkeys, and more birds than I could count. Yes, it was a short trek, but it was filled with some incredible wildlife encounters!

Kapuche Lake is a whole different experience. The lake is enchanting—crystal clear, fed by glacial waters, and it has a soothing energy about it. We stayed the night close by to the lake at a charming trekking lodge, listening to the sounds of nature and feeling completely at peace. Sometimes, it’s these brief trips that allow you to truly absorb the beauty around you.

When we returned to Sikles, the local Gurung community was celebrating a festival. Imagine this: everyone gathered around a fire, singing, chanting, and sharing stories under the stars. We didn’t need weeks to connect deeply with Nepali culture; we found it in just a few days. This is the charm of short treks—providing a taste of everything from nature’s beauty to the essence of local communities.

On our way back, we took the opportunity to relax at Begnas Lake and in Pokhara. Dipping in the lake, quiet reading by the water, and letting the experience sink in—this was the perfect ending. For any traveler short on time, this blend of adventure and relaxation will be just perfect.
